Parents, in regards to the threats made yesterday, St. Mary’s did not receive any direct threats to the school. Out of caution, the school was searched both last night and before school today and was clear both times. Today is St. Nicholas Day! St. Nick was elected Bishop of Myra, and under the emperor Diocletian was exiled and imprisoned. After being freed, he attended the Council of Nicea in 325 where he defended the divinity of Jesus (meaning that he defended that Jesus was fully God). He was known for his great charity and one of his most famous stories was when 3 sisters were too poor to be married, St. Nicholas tossed a bag of gold coins secretly, at night through their window, which allowed each of the sisters to get married. St. Nicholas is the Patron saint of children.
